Condemning the Tabas Mine Tragedy!

Once again, in the Islamic Republic, a tragedy has resulted in the death of 51 workers and injury of many others. The mine owner, in pursuit of more profit, despite the workers’ warnings about the presence of gas, without conducting gas measurements in the tunnels, sent them to their deaths, destroying dozens of families. For the capitalists, 51 is just a number. But the revolutionary movement of “Woman, Life, Freedom” has taught us to rise in defense of the right to live in all its dimensions. This tragedy was
neither an “accident” nor a “workplace incident.” In just the year 2023, about 2,115 workers lost their lives at work, and 27,000 workers were injured. For us, these figures are not just numbers; they represent lives sacrificed to profit-seeking and for capitalist exploitation.

The Islamic Republic, in order to conceal its crimes and as the advocate of private sector employers, punishes those who fight to end exploitation and oppression. This includes the case of Sharifeh Mohammadi, a labor activist sentenced to death for her struggle for a humane and just society.

To seek justice and prevent the recurrence of such crimes, we must demand justice for all the victims of this oppressive and exploitative system. In conclusion, we call for an investigation into the situation of the families of those killed and the prosecution of those responsible for the Tabas mine disaster, urging all conscious individuals to pursue justice for this tragedy.
